WINGS Family Picnic in the Park

The Family Picnic is an annual event held the second Friday evening in May. It celebrates the end of the school year and lets all WINGS supporters get together for food and friendship. We generally serve a pork steak dinner or roasted chicken (hot dogs and 1/2 pork steaks for kids). Picnic style eating or carry out is available. The small charge for the dinner helps to support the WINGS teacher grant program for the following year. Entertainment is often the Washington High School Jazz Band and various elementary and middle school music groups.

The Annual Golf Tournament is held in the fall of each year. Golfers are invited to form teams to compete in this fun event to support the foundation's projects. |
WINGS Scholarships
WINGS awards two annual scholarships:

The Wanda Lentz WINGS Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Licensed Practical Nursing student at the Four Rivers Career Center in the amount of $1000.
Two WINGS Future Educator Award scholarships in the amount of $500 each are awarded annually.
Information and application forms for scholarships are available in the WHS Guidance Office.

WINGS recognizes outstanding employees annually:

The WINGS Educational Foundation Award for Educational Excellence is presented annually in partnership with the Missourian Publishing Company and Dr. Jerry Chambers to an outstanding educator in the District. Recipients of this award receive a plaque and $1000.
The WINGS Educational Foundation Award for Outstanding Service is presented annually to honor an outstanding support staff employee. |

Great Teacher Gifts
In conjunction with Teacher Appreciation Week in May, parents and patrons have opportunities to recognize a teacher who has made an impact on their life or the life of their child. These teachers are recognized at the District-wide meeting held at the end of each school year as well as recognition in the local newspaper.
